The Possums programs and Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC), developed by Dr Pamela Douglas, are two different names for the same thing.

NDC or the Possums programs aim to protect perinatal and infant mental health by pioneering effective, evidence-based educational and clinical strategies in the areas of breastfeeding, feeds, infant cry-fuss problems, and sleep.

The programs also integrate mental health strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassionate Mind Training.

NDC or the Possums programs have an evidence-base of 30 research publications by Dr Pamela Douglas and her teams. She developed the educational and clinical translations of this research (which are different to the research base) through three lenses
